NFL Week 16 Storylines and Best Bet
Can The Titans Hold On?
It was announced this week Ryan Tannehill will miss the rest of the season. Tennessee will now have to turn to Malik Willis. Leading into this week, the Titans had a one game lead in the division, but with Jacksonville winning on Thursday, Tennessee could be knocked down to second if they lose to Houston. It’s safe to say this is a must win. They can’t afford to drop one here with Dallas coming into town next week. I would be surprised if Derrick Henry had less than 25 carries and 150 yards. That sort of stat line from him is the only way Tennessee will be able to keep pace in the AFC South.
NFC East Showdown
Philadelphia heads to Dallas in one of the bigger games of the week. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see both teams at their best with Jalen Hurts missing this game. Gardner Minshew gets the start for the Eagles. He is arguably one of the most competent backups in league, but there is zero pressure on Philly. If they were to beat Dallas without Hurts, it would be another (somewhat) embarrassing game for a Cowboys team that is spiraling. With a 10-4 record, Dallas will get into the playoffs, but they need to take care of business today to get back on track.
Miami Needs a Win
The Miami Dolphins have lost three in a row and even with last week’s decent showing against Buffalo, people are starting to blame Tua. I have been a Tua truther this entire time. He is a decent quarterback. Top 10? Well let’s see, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Jackson, Hurts, Lawrence and Kirk are all better than him. That is where the line stops being definitive. Before this year you would have also included Wilson, Watson, Stafford, Rodgers and Brady but now who knows. Tua has a chance on Sunday to set the record straight. The Dolphins must have a win here. They’re at home, facing a broken Packers team as a 3.5-point favorite. If they lose again, they’re still in the playoffs, but by the slimmest of margins. They need a W to give them some breathing room in the last two weeks.
Best Bet of the Week
Buffalo Bills -2 / San Francisco 49ers -1 (*Teaser)
Both of these teams are facing inferior opponents. Chicago’s defense won’t be able to stop Josh Allen and San Francisco’s defense will have a field day with Heinicke.
