Week 2 Preview, Biggest Games & Fantasy Guide

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

Will either of these teams look impressive? Both teams were projected double digit wins before the season’s start and have hopes of deep playoff runs, but both teams appeared flat week 1. The Ravens sleep walked by the Texans in a game where Lamar never really looked comfortable. It was his first game under new OC Todd Munkin and he tallied just over 200 total yards of offense and had two turnovers, leaving a lot to be desired. The Bengals got absolutely embarrassed by the Browns in Cleveland, in what was Joe Burrow’s worst game as a pro, throwing for just 82 yards in a 24-3 loss. Is this more to do with his calf injury or just another slow start after no preseason reps? Whatever the case, they need it addressed because they are looking at a potential 0-2 start in division and overall. Somebody has to win this game, obviously, but will either team play near their potential?

Kansas City Chiefs @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Chiefs will have back Chris Jones and likely Travis Kelce, but likely both on limited snap counts as they try to bounce back after their week 1 stumble against the Lions. It was very obvious the Chiefs’ receivers had an awful night against Detroit, but was it more of a one off or is this to be expected moving forward through the regular season? While Patrick Mahomes is amazing, as Tom Brady’s wife (now Ex Wife), Gisele Bündchen, once famously said: “My husband can’t throw and catch the ball at the same time”. For the Jaguars, they look to avenge last year’s playoff loss to the Chiefs and solidify themselves as a top contender in the AFC. Some predicted the Jags to capture the one seed this year, and a 2-0 start while making the Chiefs 0-2 and obtaining the H2H tiebreaker would be a fantastic start. It should be a very entertaining game in Duval county on Sunday.

Seattle Seahawks @ Detroit Lions

A rematch of last year’s biggest shootout where 93 total points were scored in a 48-45 Seahawks victory in Detroit. Expectations surrounding these two teams are much different this year as opposed to last year. Both teams are favored to make the playoffs this year vs being perhaps the two biggest surprise stories from last year. Polar opposite starts for each of them this year in week 1. The Lions pull off an upset in Kansas City as 5 point dogs while the Seahawks lose by three scores as 5 point favorites at home vs the Rams. Will the Lions keep riding high or will Seahawks bounce back and show that week 1’s second half was a one off? Perhaps the best case scenario is both teams show they are for real and we get another fantastic game between two teams that now have playoff expectations.

Nuclear Production Incoming

Kadarius Toney WR, KC Chiefs

Yes, that Kadarius Toney. The one that you have seen meme’d all over the internet since he took it upon himself to give the Lions the game in week 1. Nobody responds to players who screw up on the field like Andy Reid does. He always looks to go right back to them and get their confidence back instead of letting them spiral. If you want to take a chance for a big pop in a flex spot, Toney might be your man. Jacksonville’s secondary is pretty weak and the Chiefs will exploit it in the pass game, hitting Toney early and often. His yardage receiving over/under prop line is not out yet, but consider taking a look as well when it’s released.

DK Metcalf WR, Seattle Seahawks

In what might be an indoor track meet at Detroit, DK Metcalf could have a huge day. As mentioned above, this game featured 93 points last year and this venue and matchup of teams is built for offense. Add to it that Tyler Lockett took a big hit and was tested for a concussion (he passed protocol in game and re-entered), but may not be featured or used nearly as much as normal depending on how he feels. Should Lockett not play or be limited this week, DK Metcalf becomes a top tier WR production wise. In his two appearances without locket, he was targeted 12 and 9 times.

Sit and Forget

Breece Hall RB, NY Jets

While Hall has looked great coming off his injury from last year, the Jets face what appears to be a top 3 defense in the NFL and have Zach Wilson at QB. The Cowboys will likely stack the box and dare Wilson to beat them in the air, making it a real struggle for Jets RB to get much for production on the ground. Dalvin Cook also took a fair amount of snaps last week and that is likely also to be continued so they don’t run Hall back into the ground coming off of injury.

DJ Moore WR, Chicago Bears

Until Justin Fields shows that he can be an accurate thrower, Bears WRs should be stayed away from. It sounds crazy to say because we saw what DJ Moore is capable of being while he was in Carolina, but Fields’ limited passing attack spread amongst the rest of the skill position players doesn’t leave much for DJ Moore in the Fantasy Arena.
